Jessie is naГЇve and sheвЂ™s from a really small village. I see these three characters as very different people. But I have to prioritise the fact that I need to do different characters because IвЂ™m at the start of my career. IвЂ™m generally open to the idea of a good script, no matter what. Was it important that you chose a character that was different, at least in terms of demographics, from Baby and Helen? But if youвЂ™re referring to the filmвЂ™s major twist, then I really, really didnвЂ™t see it coming. The narration was really fast, so I didnвЂ™t have the time to think about it, apart from being totally immersed. I usually take a day or two before I decide, so there was no pressure as to what I was going to tell him once the narration is over. When you were listening to the story for the first time, what was going through your mind when youвЂ™re at that part when Jessie starts talking to Vishnu on the phone? And when I read the script from my POV, I had doubts, which we sat together and worked on. I then asked him a few questions to understand her better. I immediately fell in love with my character. HeвЂ™s a really good storyteller and heвЂ™s from Calicut, so heвЂ™s got this ability to take you along as heвЂ™s narrating it, even if it is all those small jokes. I felt someone else could do it better than me. I did get a couple of other films too at that point, but I was not convinced. Kappela came to me right before I started shooting for Helen. Of course, we do everything we can to make it the best film, but thatвЂ™s all one can really do.

IвЂ™m sure luck is a factor too, because itвЂ™s always a gamble to put something out. Is it just a matter of your taste in scripts doing wonders for you? WhatвЂ™s the deal here? YouвЂ™ve chosen to be a part of three very interesting films. Helen too is getting remade in Tamil now.

Kumbalangi had found a good response from outside Kerala. We expected good reviews too, but I didnвЂ™t foresee the kind of response itвЂ™s getting now, especially from outside Kerala.

It was our directorвЂ™s first movie and he made it with a lot of heart. I knew it was a good movie after I watched it. WeвЂ™ve also been getting some great reviews. Yeah the film is very much alive and people are talking about it a lot now. Is that not strange for a film which released months ago, especially for how itвЂ™s being spoken about outside of Kerala? Well,' Kumbalangi Nights' gives all the actors the chance to prove that statement and in this charming little film, ably directed by first-timer Madhu C Narayanan, each of them delivers unfailingly.That way, it looks like the Netflix release of Kappela has been keeping you busy. In fact, what seems like a broken house ends up holding a lot of love, while a house appears to be quaint and systematic in the secrets of the outside harbors.the actors say it's not the length of the role or whether they're playing the main character, but the quality of the role that matters to them. The movie's heavyweight moments are dealt with comic one-liners that actually come across as good bits of lifetime philosophy. The tense and surprising climax comes with the attempt to bring to its logical conclusion the relationship between Bobby and Babymol. Credit to scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran for not providing easy answers or making anything seem forced, except perhaps for Sreenath BhasiвЂ™s love angle In a twist, the house is suddenly filled with women, but not Babymol, and the men start to find purpose and answers in their lives, willingly or unwillingly. These aren't the real characters we're used to watching in our films, and' Kumbalangi Nights ' feels more special about that.The first half of the film starts out as a character-driven,The second half picks up pace. Saji and Bobby are a few losers they spend their days lying around without doing any work and mooching other people off. There's a shed-like house where four steps and half-brothers come and go, played by Shane Nigaam (Bobby), Soubin Shahir (Saji), Sreenath Bhasi and promising young footballer Mathews, but not before trading punches and barbs.

The story takes its time to unfold in the first half in the Kumbalangi fishing hamlet, without feeling like a drag.
